Promoting Participation in the Moraga Community

Moraga Trail

Our Mission

Moraga Citizens Network is a grassroots organization dedicated to encouraging participation in the life of Moraga in these ways:
First, we provide or direct members to non-partisan, factual information on current issues.
Secondly, we assist the town staff in publicizing public meetings and town-sponsored events when needed.
Finally, Moraga Citizens Network announces many recreational, educational, and fund raising events offered in Moraga by the Town's service organizations, library, non-profit organizations, and Saint Mary's College - all towards the end of promoting participation in the Moraga community.
Our primary tool is a bi-monthly e-bulletin called The MCN Link. Sign up Here.
That’s the theme for the 19th California Independent Film Festival (CAIFF) and the 6th hosted right here in Moraga and Orinda. This weeklong festival will run from September 8 – 14, will show films from 17 different countries, which were chosen from among the 1000 that were submitted for consideration. What makes this a real festival is that producers, actors, and screen writers of many of the films will come too, and often participate in Q&As after their film has been shown. Another “festival” feature is presenting many awards, such as for Best Actress, Best Feature Film, a Best Composer award, and a CAIFF 2016 Audience Award Favorite.

Film length varies from 3 minutes to 132 minutes in this wide collection of shorts, full-length feature films, and documentaries,. Topics are equally diverse - from a comedy about chocolate cake to a relational film about a grandmother and her granddaughter, to stories set in WW II Europe, to a suspenseful drama involving a kidnapping, to sexual shaming of women and girls.
