Promoting Participation in the Moraga Community


The Town of Moraga typically holds an annual Goal Setting Workshop at the beginning of each calendar year. Deviating from the usual Saturday morning session of previous years, the 2014 session was held on a Tuesday evening at LaSala with over 35 residents working with the full Town Council as well as the Town Staff department heads and Town Manager. Here is a summary of the goals proposed by Mayor Ken Chew and endorsed by the other Council members.

  1. Maintain excellent in stewardship
  2. Maximize existing resources for enhanced community use through partnerships and agreements
  3. Celebrate the Town’s 40th Anniversary around the Pear and Wine Festival in September and the Historical Society dinner in October
  4. Enable the organization to respond to opportunities as they arise

  • Partner with the Chamber of Commerce to support a focused Shop Moraga First promotion to Moraga residents
  • Analyze General Revenue expenses of each park facility and the Hacienda
  • Research whether or not TSAC should sunset
  • Draft a usage abatement ordinance to address blight and other violations of the Municipal Code
  • Delay the adoption of a Preservation Ordinance until April 2014
  • Create a Planning Commission review process of Development Applications
  • Begin a discussion of long-term solutions to the Moraga Police Department staffing
