Ellen Beans has lived in Moraga since 1981. Trained to teach elementary school, she has spent most of her life in public service and education. In 2006, she helped launch the Chamber’s Community Faire which she coordinated for ten years. Ellen was also an active member on the Board of the Moraga Chamber of Commerce. Since helping to found Moraga Citizens Network in 2005, she has promoted transparency in town government and assisted in getting out information on public meetings to residents. She writes the bi-weekly MCN Link to keep residents informed about Council agenda items, issues, and local events. Her favorite hobby is caring for her garden and enjoying her membership in the Moraga Garden Club. Visits with her 2 daughters and young adult grandkids always brings her joy. Ellen is grateful for husband Larry’s support of her civic involvement.

Diane Claytor Diane Claytor, a native of Chicago, has lived in Moraga for 35-plus years. She did administrative office work, primarily for non-profit organizations, before retiring several years ago. With free time on her hands, Diane started volunteering –  she wrote a blog for Walnut Creek’s Diablo Ballet as well as worked in their office and played with kids at the Bay Area Crisis Nursery; she currently edits MCN’s newsletter and sorts books at the Moraga Library. She’s on the Board of Lamorinda Movers and writes their monthly newsletter. She also writes feature stories for the Lamorinda Weekly, focusing mostly on some of Lamorinda’s very interesting residents. Her favorite pastimes are cooking, reading, traveling, walking and playing with her two wonderful grandchildren.

Shari Simon moved to Moraga in 2003. After a 15+ year career at Oracle Corp., leading sales and marketing divisions as well as company-wide strategic initiatives, she retired in 2006. Shari’s community involvement began shortly thereafter with the Moraga Juniors’ Garden Tour, the Rheem Elementary PTA, and the Moraga Education Foundation (MEF) board. Shari also served on the Miramonte Swim Club Board and was a founding Board member of East Bay Eclipse Soccer Club. In 2012, Shari was elected to the Moraga School District Governing Board. Shari joined the MCN Board in 2018 and most recently has become an active member of AAUW’s Lamorinda Branch. Shari enjoys spending time with her family and friends, learning about and discussing topics of the day, and meeting new people.

Ann Walgenbach I am a retired nurse/family nurse practitioner. I lived in Orinda from age 7-17 and went to Miramonte High School. I left Orinda to go to college at UCLA and Mt St Mary’s College. I worked at the UCLA medical center and I did my graduate work there. I returned to Northern California 15 years later in 1991 and met my husband, Brian. We’ve just celebrated our 29th anniversary and we have 2 boys- one who lives in Bozeman, Montana after graduating from MSU, and one who is going to Drexel University in Philadelphia this September. We have lived in, and very much enjoyed, Moraga since 2010. I am new to the Board but I am looking forward to being involved in the community and supporting positive work!  

John Lee moved to Moraga with his wife and two sons in 2009 because of its excellent school district and neighborhood.  Prior to retiring in 2021, he spent 34 years in a law enforcement career as a Federal Investigator and as a California State Insurance Detective. John recently joined the Kiwanis Club of Moraga Valley as an active member/participant in various service projects.  Retirement has allowed John to pursue travel, hiking, riding bicycles, amateur photography and to fulfill his commitment to give back to the community.

Shweta Srivastava has been resident of Moraga since 2009. Both she and her husband work for Kaiser Permanente – she is a software engineering manager, and he is an Oncologist. They have 2 kids who have both grown up in the Moraga school system. Shweta has been very involved in the arts around the community. From creating the painted and ceramic murals at Camino Pablo School, to building props for the Moraga Ranch Swim team, acting as a parent advisor for both her kids at Campolindo with multiple installations for homecomings, proms and balls, her creative pursuits are what bring her joy and keep her engaged in the community. Soon to be an empty nester, Shweta has joined MCN as social media chair to continue to engage with the community in an artful way.

Sunny Sutton – I grew up in Orinda, but when my East Coast husband saw Moraga, he fell in love with this town. We have been here since the early 90s and love the community.

After retiring from a career in medical device health economics with 30 years of travel, it’s time to give back to Moraga. I look forward being a part of this great organization.

Kitty Stephens has lived with her family in Moraga since 2004.  Originally from the midwest, she grew up in Danville and graduated from UCLA.  A mother of 3 girls (all Campo grads), she was fortunate to spend time volunteering for the schools through the Moraga Education Foundation, Los Perales, JM & Campo Parents Clubs/PTAs, Campo Choir Board, and National Charity League in roles ranging from room parent to grad night chair to president.  But as a former CPA, she was naturally drawn to treasurer or financial review roles or anything involving a good spreadsheet!.  As a recent empty nester, Kitty is learning mahjong and loves to travel, puzzle, and play golf with her family and husband, Tim.

Elaine Lind – I moved to Moraga in 1968 with my husband after searching for a family oriented community to raise our two children.  As they progressed through Moraga Schools I participated in parents clubs, served on the boards of Moraga Garden Club, Moraga Historical Society and most recently Lamorinda Movers.  My recent involvement with Moraga Citizens Network as a member of the Citizen of the Year Committee has led me to realize the value of MCN as a community awareness asset.  I am pleased to step onto the board of this dedicated and talented group of Moraga neighbors.

Lisa Brown grew up in NJ but has called California home since 1993, moving to Moraga in 2012. After 10 years in pharma/biotech sales, she left to be at home with her 3 children and began volunteering in her kids’ public schools in Oakland and then Moraga. She enjoyed connecting the community and supporting our students through her leadership roles such as: PTA/ Parents Club Boards, Campo Parents Club President, and on the Moraga Education Foundation Board with 2 yrs as President. She also served on the National Charity League Board, as team parent for soccer and volleyball club sports, and was a member of the 2025 MCN Citizen of the Year committee. Lisa is excited to join the MCN Board to continue to give back to Moraga. She also enjoys time with family and friends, hiking, travel, utilizing MCC for golf/pickleball/bocce, and recently joined the Parent Advisory Board of Indiana University where her youngest attends college.
